Standard policies and responsibilities for volunteers
Standard Policies
- Please check in at the Volunteer/Command Center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time for your orientation and safety briefing. You will get your Volunteer Handbook, volunteer t-shirt, and snacks before you report to your volunteer location.
PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers are also required to check out at the Volunteer/Command Center at the end of the shift. Please do not leave the venue without checking out! - All Access passes are the only passes that allow the wearer to move in and out of venues and sites at will. The wearer does NOT have to stand in line and can come and go, as they need. The only people with All Access passes will be Staff, media, technical crew and a few others. The passes will say: Freedom Fair All Access and are worn as badges.
- ABSOLUTELY NO FIREWORKS OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED AT THE EVENT.
- Please clean your site at the end of your shift; however, try not to let it build up during your shift. Try to keep your area clean at all times.
- Some sites require a pass for entrance. No exceptions (accept All Access passes).
- Audiences are allowed to spread blankets or set up lawn chairs and stay as long as they like, unless otherwise indicated. Sidewalks, streets and driveways must be kept clear as do areas set aside for festival or vendor use.
Responsibilities
- The more you know the better the overall operation of the festival and the easier all of our jobs will be. It is your responsibility to know your site. It is essential that you arrive early so that you can familiarize yourself with the layout; locate the bathrooms, the exits, handicap accessibility, etc. We hope that all the information you need will be provided to you; however, please make sure you read and understand the information in your Volunteer Handbook, and ask questions if necessary. If you have any questions, doubts, concerns or suggestions, do not hesitate to contact the staff. Communication is the operative word.
- Familiarize yourself with the event program schedule. Keep a program handy with updated information; try to be familiar with not only what the venues are, but also where they are. Remember that you are a walking, talking information booth. Get your information as soon as possible and study it. When you check in at the Volunteer/Command Center, find out if there have been any last minute changes in venues or schedule.
- Study your Volunteer Handbook
