EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Event:	TACOMA FREEDOM FAIR and AIRSHOW Featuring Spectacular Events and a Fireworks Extravaganza!
Date & Hours:	July 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Admission is free!
Organization:	The Tacoma 4th of July Commission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Members volunteer thousands of hours of their time to help organize and present the recreational, educational and entertainment events of this festival.
History:	This celebration is an Independence Day tradition dating back to the 1930's!
Location:	A two-mile stretch of scenic Commencement Bay shoreline and the waterfront parks along Ruston Way, near the Old Town area of Tacoma.
Attendance:	Over 150,000 people enjoy this festival from the shoreline or on the water as a part of the flotilla that makes this the biggest boating holiday in the county!
Market:	Audience comes from throughout the Puget Sound region, but the majority is from Tacoma, Pierce County, and nearby communities in the South Sound.
Demographics:	Strong family attendance, 60% married with a household income of $35,000 or more; 25% are under age 18; 11% are age 18 to 24; 23% are 25 to 34; 29% are 35 to 50; 12% are over 50. (A detailed spectator survey is available.)
Event Profile:	The "Tacoma Freedom Fair" schedule of events cover two miles of waterfront and provides the most comprehensive lineup available to Pacific Northwest residents on the 4th of July. The schedule includes six live entertainment performance areas featuring country, rock, folk, jazz, blues, big band, and children's shows. Those attending will find carnival games and rides, a kids' art festival, an open air market with arts, crafts and ethnic foods, military displays, a log boom for boaters, a NW regional pole vault championship, and a Metro Parks Family Fun Zone. Two major highlights are "The Tacoma Freedom Fair Airshow" and the spectacular Grand Finale Fireworks Extravaganza and laser show!
