Freedom Fair “Clicks” with Craft Breweries and Specialty Beverages

Amazing fireworks and incredible airplane demonstrations won’t be the only thing that Tacoma residents have to look forward to at the July 4th Freedom Fair and Air Show. A complete new array of corporate partners have joined forces in an effort to reach new heights and leading the way is Click Wholesale Distributing who specializes in the distribution of local and regional craft beers and specialty beverages.

Craft beer enthusiast will have an extra special treat this year with offerings from the Click portfolio of brands that align well with the July 4th Tacoma festival. Try stopping by one of the new refreshment zones at the Silver Cloud Inn or in the Coastline Law firm on the south end. Tryout brews from the Pacific Brewing and Malting Company. One of the featured beers will be the Potomac Citra Pale Ale, so, sip away while listening to DJs and live music. Here’s a company that was formed in Tacoma in 1897 but was cut short by state-wide Prohibition in 1916. Now, nearly 100 years later, Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. is back in downtown Tacoma and is setting their sights on being one of the premier craft breweries in the Northwest.

If you’re up for the air show, then you’ll surely enjoy the offerings of Wingman Brewery. Now these brew-masters are guys that say they’d be glad to go from cradle to grave in Tacoma. So much so, that the founder attended Pacific Lutheran University and now donates a portion of all proceeds to Tacoma based charities.

Now if we want to talk about what independence truly means, we can’t forget Scuttlebutt Brewery. This idea stemmed from a home brew kit where the Mrs., “Scuttle”, needed to regain access to her kitchen from her beer brewing hubby. Now 20 years later, we have 20 styles of lagers and ales that are still brewed as a family business and enjoyed by many throughout the Northwest.

If you’re a true organic eating Washingtonian, you’ll surely feel good selecting beers from Uintah Brewing, a company that’s 100% solar powered. If beer’s not your thing, how about trying out cider that originated from a 100-year old family orchard located right here in Washington? That’s what you can expect from Tieton Cider Works. And, how can we forget wines? Well, we haven’t. Right along with the red, white and blue, Ryan Patrick Wines brings us Redhead Red straight from the Columbia Valley. If you want to let your hair down, you can always go for the Naked Chardonnay instead. Either way, don’t miss these selections, wine lovers.

Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan
Scuttlebutt Brewing Company

Everett, Washington

Founded in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brewhouse, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Amber Ale

5.1% ABV

Medium-bodied, caramel flavor and crisp hop finish.

Uinta Brewing CO.

Salt Lake City, Utah

Uinta brewing company began brewing beer in the winter of 1993 in a renovated mechanics garage in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their flagship beer was Cutthroat Pale Ale, named after Utah’s State Fish. This was followed by King’s Peak Porter, named after Utah’s highest peak, Golden Spike Hefeweizen, named after the spike used to commemorate the completion of the transcontinental railroad, which was completed in Utah, and Dubhe, named after the Utah Centennial star.

In 2001, Uinta became the first Utah company to be 100% wind and solar powered.

LIME PILS

5.3% ABV

Crisp, light-bodied, and immensely refreshing, our small batch Lime Pilsner combines a subtle malty sweetness with hints of fresh lime for a little splash of summertime.

Tieton Cider Works / Rambling Route Cider

Tieton, Washington

The fruit that is used in Tieton Cider Works cider comes from Craig and Sharon Campbell’s Harmony Orchards. This land has been in our family since the 1920’s when our grandfather planted his first trees in Tieton, Washington. We take our stewardship of the land seriously and have been farming organically for the last 25 years.

Hard Pear Cider

6.9% ABV

Peeled ripe pears and an endearing floral bouquet, coupled with citrusy acids and a touch of poised sweetness that lends to an impressive purity of true pear flavor. Anticipate mineral components, rich with mouth-filling body, and a refreshing, crisp finish.

Ryan Patrick Wines

From its beginnings as a family winery named after its grape-growing family founders’ two sons, to today’s incarnation as a Columbia Valley AVA star with a Leavenworth landmark tasting room, Ryan Patrick will continue to make approachable wines with a serious edge.

Intuitive winemaking is the art of letting the fruit speak for itself. Its minimalist intervention combined with consistency of style. That’s the heart of the Ryan Patrick promise: artisanal winemaking where the grape is at the center. Many wineries use static recipes for their wines; instead, winemaker Jeremy Santo does daily fermentations with different yeast or temperatures to achieve a specific effect. A true craftsman, Jeremy pulls from his scientific education and training at Snoqualmie and Canoe Ridge wineries to create consistently great wines that people love to discover and share with their friends.

“An approachable red blend with rich and ripe flavors. We source fruit from vineyards throughout the Columbia Valley emphasizing backbone and depth, characteristics intrinsic to the style of our Redhead Red.” – Jeremy Santo, Winemaker

2015 Naked Chardonnay

“We are creating an approachable, savory and refreshing style of Chardonnay, sourcing fruit from warmer sites in the Columbia Valley to lend a rich and ripe profile to the wine.
