TACOMA CITY COUNCIL EXTENDS TEC CONTRACT 5 YEARS

The board of directors and volunteers of the Tacoma Events Commission are very grateful for the support and confidence of the Tacoma City Council, who voted unanimously on Aug 31, 2010, to extend the Tacoma Events Commission's contract to produce Freedom Fair for another five years. This is a resounding vote of confidence, not only for the TEC, but also for the many hard-working volunteers and generous sponsors who make Freedom Fair a reality every year. As we commence planning for Freedom Fair 2011 (our 32nd year), we are excited about opportunities and challenges we face.

In 2011, we will celebrate an historic milestone – the U.S. Navy's Centennial of Naval Aviation – during Freedom Fair. Tacoma enjoys a strong shared history with the Navy, and we are also a military community, with representatives of all military services serving here. Additionally, we are fortunate to have one of the largest communities of retired military in the country, and have enjoyed the support of many of those military and retired personnel over the years.

During these difficult economic times, we have had to change with the times and find new ways to raise the critical funds necessary to continue to produce this beloved, free event in Tacoma. Our commitment to applying all monies raised to the production of events continues, supported by the dedication and support of our wonderful volunteers. We strive to develop and implement the most cutting-edge opportunities for potential sponsors and donors, and welcome your support. Large or small, your contributions will help keep Freedom Fair alive and prospering, and will ensure that your friends, co-workers, and families will find new memories to cherish as we celebrate our country's independence. Thank you!

MBC throws down Freedom Fair challenge
The law firm, of Messina Bulzomi Christensen of Tacoma, has helped kick off a fund raising campaign to save and support Tacoma’s annual 4th of July Freedom Fair. The firm donated $200.00 per lawyer in the firm, that’s $1,000. They are challenging all businesses in Tacoma, Pierce County and the whole South Sound to match them. Read more about the challenge on their website.
